This involved identifying quick wins with minimal effort, thanks to close work with the AWS TAM, and building a cost-conscious culture through targeted training sessions for teams and project leaders.
We implemented robust cost monitoring tools, including AWS Cost Explorer and the CUDOS dashboard, to provide enhanced visibility into spending. Our resource optimization efforts focused on identifying and eliminating idle resources, unused AWS accounts, and optimizing EC2 instances. A newly developed EC2 Reserved Instance strategy yielded significant monthly savings. To ensure ongoing control, we introduced a structured budgeting process with alerts and implemented cost management automation for proactive responses to cost spikes.
Looking ahead, we are planning advanced optimization techniques such as migrating to Graviton instances, leveraging spot instances, and adopting serverless architectures for long-term cost efficiencies.
